[Castle has spent most of the day making Alexis her favorite meal. Beckett might have left but he spent many Valentines Day without her and this one is no exception. The camera pans over a table set with candles, sprinkled with pink tin foiled wrapped chocolate hearts. There's a white and red stuffed teddy bear sitting in one of the chairs. Next to it are three books. There's a card that says Will you be my Valentine even when I'm 99?]

That’s right I’ve got a hot date with the prettiest girl in the City...my daughter. Be envious. Be jealous!

Think she’ll like it? Or am I going over board into creepy dad territory here?

[Alexis bounds down the steps after showering and changing from delivering cupcakes and working at Cafe Juliet all day. She's intent on making dinner for her and her dad but when she sees the table, a smile lights her face. For as long as she could remember, her dad had been her valentine. And he'd always said he would be until she didn't need him to be. So this was just perfect, a little bit of normalcy in a place that wasn't so normal.]

Ohmigod, Dad? Happy Valentine's Day! You did all this?

[It's good for him too. It doesn't look like Beckett is coming back. He and Alexis aren't leaving the City. Normalcy is good.]

Of course I did this. I couldn't let the day go by without reminding you that you're my Valentine.

[Alexis goes over to him and wraps her arms around him tightly, just holding onto him in a full-out Alexis hug for a bit. They both need it, she things.]

[He doesn't mind the hug at all. They both do need it. After a long bit, he releases her.]

[Sitting down, Alexis sets the teddy bear in her lap and picks up the books excitedly to peruse them first.]

Books! You know I love books.

[Castle chuckles a little and shrugs]

A little tiny Tim but I think we're both allowed.

[He's missing the people from home more than usual since he had his mother and Beckett here; since he and Beckett were together but Alexis is here and as long as she's here, he's okay]

[Alexis is silent for several moments, sipping at the drink and then poking her fork at her food.]

Glad you like it. {He's watching her with a fond smile more than he's paying attention to his food but he finally takes a bite and follows it up with a sip of grape juice.]

I think it's a great idea. I've heard the Academy is good and since we don't know when or if any of us are leaving, there's not much point in putting off your life.

Sure, I can finish high school and maybe learn some other stuff in the meantime. It kind of excites me. School during the day and work in the evening.

You've always liked school. I think it's good for you and here you can learn things that you wouldn't have the opportunity to learn at home.
