Settling back into my regular routine seems to be more of a problem then I had anticipated. I'd planned to write at Cafe Juliet today and yet every time I open a blank page my mind goes blank.

It must be recent events: the harpies, the barrier falling, the animals missing, Kate's return home and those odd City tour guides.

Perhaps once things return to normal in the City my routine will return to normal.

[ooc: Curses and blaming his writer's block on everything except himself]
cuffmeonce: (Uhm...)
I hadn't planned on changing genres. This might require it though.

Is everyone alright?
cuffmeonce: (Expressive faces)
[Castle is having a green beer at the bar. He's wearing a green tee shirt and a jacket over it. At least he's trying to be festive. It's progress for him. He's also got a small notebook and a pen. Every once in a while he scribbles something down then goes back to his green beer and his people watching]

While I'm fairly sure that Castle is an English name at one point there was a bit of English in the Irish blood lines. The British were going to 'breed' the Irish out. Nasty piece of history but the most history has those bits.

[ooc: If there is a particular bar that is serving green beer, feel free to place him in it. I had no idea if any of the player bars were serving it or not so I put him in a nonspecific one. Feel free to come up and have some green beer with him]
cuffmeonce: ([Alexis] Daddy's Girl)
[Locked from Alexis]
[Castle has spent most of the day making Alexis her favorite meal. Beckett might have left but he spent many Valentines Day without her and this one is no exception. The camera pans over a table set with candles, sprinkled with pink tin foiled wrapped chocolate hearts. There's a white and red stuffed teddy bear sitting in one of the chairs. Next to it are three books. There's a card that says Will you be my Valentine even when I'm 99?]

That’s right I’ve got a hot date with the prettiest girl in the City...my daughter. Be envious. Be jealous!

Think she’ll like it? Or am I going over board into creepy dad territory here?

[ooc: Action open to Alexis. Video and voice open to everyone else. Feel free to tell him that yes he has crossed over into creepy dad territory]
cuffmeonce: (Writer)
I'm a writer.

Alexis is real.

That much I'm sure of.

...everything else I--the beautiful brunette--clever, quick witted, reads comic books, brave and yet so vulnerable. I think I made her up.

I know I made her up.

I think I've made everything up.

[ooc: Last stage of the memory curse. I figured Castle being a writer it might be interesting for him to think everything is fictional. He'll get his memory back by the weekend at the latest]
cuffmeonce: (Not this again)
[Castle is crouched behind a bookshelf in the very bowels of the library. He has on a leather fedora and there is a bullwhip coiled at his hip. He has a gun in his hand as well. He glances over his shoulder to Alexis then takes out a book from his jacket pocket.]

See this here? Decoded I think it's telling us the notebook is hidden under the cornerstone over there.

[The device slips down a bit to show the page in the notebook he's talking about. It's a basic leather bound journal and the page in question is covered in a series of glyhs and scribbled words]

[ooc: Action open to those in the library. Replies may come from Alexis or Castle. He is cursed with the questing curse and he thinks he's on an Indiana Jones-esque quest for Leonardo Da Vinci's lost notebook]
cuffmeonce: (You're not funny)
Is anyone else having difficulties with their electronics? Particularly laptops if you have them separate from your device?

Mine just won't turn on and I wanted to write today.

[ooc: Castle's habit/addiction is writing and his laptop won't turn on because of the curse]
cuffmeonce: (Look back in fear)
[Yes, that's right, Castle is currently untying himself from a chair using his teeth. In Slow Motion. There's accompanying music. He wiggles a bit too much and then the chair starts falling backwards. In Slow Motion. He wonders briefly if the slow motion is going to make the fall hurt any less.]
cuffmeonce: (Writer)
[Castle is carrying a gun, wearing his bullet proof vest with the word
Writer
on it, walking through the Underground. He glances to his device.]

I know what you're thinking but you don't have to worry. I'm being careful. I don't want to destroy the world with my mind either.

[ooc: Castle has Billy's 'I can destroy the world with my mind and that would be bad' idea. He's also out looking for Beckett in the Underground. Feel free to run into him down there.]
cuffmeonce: (Say that again)
You'll suffer a setback

That could be almost anything but then I guess that's the nature of all predictions. If they're vague then it increases the likelihood they can come true.

Last weekend was interesting to say the least. I trust everyone made it through alright?

I've started outlining my next book. Let's just say this last weekend has given me some inspiration.

Hello City. It is a fantastic day. I know I've been promising you a new book the last few months and it is finally here. You can buy your very own copy of City Heat at the bookstore. I will gladly autograph copies.

As to those of you who might like to sample a bit of the book or at least know what to expect from it before buying, here's a summary:

City Heat by Richard Castle is a novel rife with mayhem, murder and mischief set in a curse ridden city. There's a rash of murders, absence of memories and the suspects are anything but concrete. Ride along with Nikki Heat and her 'consultant' Jameson Rook as they solve crimes, navigate difficult and sometimes ridiculous curses. Will she get her man?

[This is Castle's 'City' version of the Nikki Heat novels. They're written in very typical Castle style. Characters are free to see themselves in the various appearances and chracterizations of the residents. Make stuff up! If you have questions ask me! If you don't want your character portrayed in there at all, don't stress just assume they aren't. This summary and these two excerpts is all that will ever actually been seen of City Heat. The over reaching plot follows the Rido dinner!murder storyline with Nikki Heat of course getting her man in the end. It will be peppered with fictionalized versions of the last eight months or so's curses as well. All names are changed to protect the innocent as well as the not-so-innocent and the two main characters, Nikki and Rook, oddly -greatly- resemble Beckett and Castle. Read a sample of the real book 'Naked Heat' coming out soon here]

Remember I've got a daughter to feed! And let me know what you think of it.
cuffmeonce: (Great smile)
[Castle is standing in the kitchen. There is Italian Opera music turned up much too loudly and it is pouring out the open windows of the rented beach house. He is meticulously layering noodles, sauce, cheese and meat for lasagna. He is also singing. Badly. Not real Italian or real Opera. Just making up his own words and uttering noises that honestly could come from a cat in heat. After a moment he picks up a remote and turns the music down a bit]

You know really, I ought to consider moving out here. I think the beach has been good for Alexis. I almost think Beckett has been working a bit less and my cooking has improved with the salt air.

Everyone needs a vacation. Particularly here.
cuffmeonce: (Not this again)
Nikki leaned across the table, her blouse gaping open just enough to throw the suspect off his game. Only a hint of a smile quirked the corners of her lips before she banished it for the dominatrix attitude that worked so well in the interrogation room. The truth was crawling all over the suspect's skin just waiting to be spoken. Heat could see it there and she knew there would be a moment when he couldn't stand it anymore, when he'd come to her on his knees begging to confess. She pushed herself away from the table with a smirk that clearly said you missed your chance

"You may not want to tell me the truth but you're going to. Sooner or later."

[Castle growls ridiculously then shuts the laptop and pushes away from his desk.]

The same paragraph. Twelve times. I can't write anything else. Nothing wrong with the paragraph but I've got to cut to the chase here. The same paragraph over and over isn't going to cut it.

[That's when he notices the video device is recording. It pulls another growl out of him]

I'm going for a walk.
